It fascinates me when we travel through bikes. It’s a different adventure on its own. So, this is one of the places we visited during the autumn season & as we all know unplanned trips are always the best, this trip was something which changed a lot of things from our perception. A friend of ours whom we haven’t seen from yonks' calls up & says he is planning for a meet-up on the coming weekend. He was coming from Hyderabad - Bangalore. We decided on a short outing & It was the Dasara Festival on Saturday ( 30th Sept, 2017). We couldn’t think of any other place than Mysore.
The Illuminated Mysore Palace
Why Mysore?
Dasara is celebrated as a state festival of Karnataka & it's a treat of prosperity. A traditional Dasara procession is held on the streets of Mysore city. The grandeur in this festival is its procession & it’s royalty. The mantapa on top of an elephant which is elegantly designed is made up of 750Kgs of Gold is something delightful to witness.
So , A friend arrives Saturday late morning & after a quick power nap we hangout for supper. The plan for Mysore was on & due to the festival, lodges & bunkers were full. With our continuous efforts of 2-3 hours we couldn’t manage to find rooms. A friend of us spoke to a person whose habitat is Mysore & asked for support. The streets of Mysore were illuminated with people & celebration. They generously offered us to stay at their home & there was also an added advantage to us meeting them. We reached Mysore & met those beautiful couples. They came along with us & guided us about the place & culture. Also , they took us to a place for dinner, It was an exhibition of different cultures. This was a whole new experience for all of us.
We reached there home & halted overnight by sharing our travel experiences. As a token of gratitude we invited them to join on our journey for next day but they had different plans, So we decided not to force them.
We call it a day! Blissfully!...
Over-Night! They also advised us to visit the place called BR Hills which is 85 Kms approx. from Mysore & briefed us about its significance. We all were pumped up for this tour & hauled our bikes from the parking area in the chillness of morning & disappeared like nomads. As we entered the reserved forest we could breathe in pleasure. The pleasant environment mesmerized us. We reached the top of BR hills & the temple was under renovation. We had a good time & we got down with some nice pictures.
