Sikkim - Tour to Serenity

Sikkim is an Organic state which never fails to fascinate you. I was mesmerized by its landscapes and pristine beauty.

Am a travel enthusiast who desire travelling the world. I was fortunate & equally excited to visit Sikkim with my dearest friends. We planned 8 days trip without any time constraint to explore the Organic Sikkim. North Sikkim is where we planned to spend most of our time. Its a place for Solitude where you can spend time with yourself.  I will narrate my story categorizing by places where i hold unforgettable memories.

Gurudongmar” is a sacred lake centered by Mountains & Wide terrains. Gurudongmar Lake is all of Wonders because the water never freezes at any extreme temperatures. It's 17,800ft above the sea level. Behind this mysterious lake there is a story why water doesn't freeze. It was difficult for the people who make living at this place to get drinking water in winters because everything goes frozen during the season & there was a drinking water scarcity . So, civilians raised this problem to “Sikh Guru Nanak Dev Ji”  who is the first Guru & founder of Sikhism. He touched his walking stick on part of this moraine lake & prayed that this water will be used for drinking purpose to the people who live around & will never be frozen here after. I was told this by my car driver who belongs to Local community. It's Mythical. This place needs a prior permission before visiting so please ensure you get it done before planning to visit. If you organise trip with travel planner's then ask them to include this place in your itinerary. This place was astonishing & without a second thought one of the best memory for rest of my life. Visiting the place after 12 noon is not recommended. The temperature here will fall to -5°C to -7°C. This place will test your limits due to lack of oxygen to breathe & one can hardly stay here for an hour. I suggest to start at 4AM in the morning to reach this place at right time & acclimatize.

Kala Pattar” is another such destination which most of the tourists skip to visit due to the terrains & difficulties they come across en-route. Trust me this place contents your Snow desire. My itinerary wasn't included with this destination but while returning from “Gurudongmar lake” on a pit stop for a tea we heard local people talking about the Rainfall happened in “Kalla Pattar” last night & this led to snowfall. We were excited to know what is it all about. Well, Thankfully! our driver was familiar with the route. We were excited & boosted up to experience this. On the way to “Kalla pattar” we got to see a glimpse of snow capped mountains and our terrain with snow everywhere. It was magical & this bought an adrenaline rush to visit it at any cost. It seemed like a dream being physically there. This place had everything to satisfy you. The feeling of being in a place where everything is covered with snow & view of Black stone with Snow coating left me flabbergasted.

Yumthang Valley” is a river between mountains & lush green forest. This place is extensively wide & open with invisible boundaries to compass. Everything is set free & flawless. I had Freedom to go everywhere around this place. There are benches close to river where you can sit & enjoy your solitude. It was pleasant & serene. We had good amount of time spent here & the place was perfect to capture the moments through Camera. We had fun playing in water post chit-chat on the river shore. While heading back we stopped at Hot Springs nearby Yumthang Valley but unfortunately, we couldn’t take bath in it. Hot-Spring is a medicinal hot water to keep you refreshed & cure your body & joint pains.

Tsomgo Lake” is a dead water which is formed by glacier melt down. This lake is recommended to visit during winters because it remains snow covered & becomes frozen lake You can go an a Yak ride here & its an Authentic spot. There is nothing much to do here other then sight seeing but don't miss to have it on your bucket list.
