Goa Offbeat 1 - Bogmalo

That one day came when all the stars in the universe aligned, when flowers blossomed, when all our virtues were full, when the wind blew, all the doors rattle and we finally decided to go Goa.

People say that being a bachelor you need to visit Goa with your friends at least once in a lifetime, right? But, there is a problem with all 5 of us.

We don’t booze, we don’t smoke, we don’t like clubs or pubs and we don’t even like crowded places!

To solve this, we came up with a plan B which is South Goa.
North or South, What’s the difference? but there's a hell of a big difference.

And the “Goa Offbeat” series is the nominal attempt to catch rays from the clouded sky to show you the Countryside of Goa.

Let's get started; it's going to be a busy day.

Dabolim is where all the good things started happening. We rented a house here for 10 days which was quite luxurious and it was just next to the Goa airport. Day 1 at Dabolim started with the local sightseeing.

Itinerary:

  • Bogmalo beach
  • Velsao beach
  • Cansaulim beach

Good Morning Vibes At Bogmalo

At 6 in the morning, Bogmalo beach was bliss. The beach was overwhelming with activities, culture, and positive vibes. People were jogging, playing football and volleyball, doing yoga, and whatnot. The first thing I do at any beach is to take a walk along the shores. To the sun being behind clouds, the weather was too good to be true. The corner of the beach looked stunning with the rock formation and the incredible color. Those rocks were “A photographer's dream” and we spent some time clicking a few photos.

Bogmalo Beach - A photographer's dream

We did not stop there, while others were busy taking the pics, I and my friend Sujay saw the mountain and did a small trek to see the horizon from the top. The mountain we climbed at Bogmalo beach was a dense forest with so many red Fire Ants. It was a narrow path and we weren’t quite brave enough to take the way to the top but we did enjoy the stunning views from halfway. An early-morning walk on this beach was a blessing for the whole day.

Trek At Bogmalo Beach

Bogmalo was a huge highlight for us. We visited it like 4 or 5 times on this trip and a few times we spent the whole night here. We loved every moment we spent there!

Our evening started with swimming at Velsao beach. So clean and the water refreshingly cool which made us jump right into the water. White sands, not too crowded and it's a long stretch of beach across South Goa, connected by Cansaulim and other beaches. Because of this Covid situation in the world, It felt like for ages I have not seen an Ocean. So, we properly spent 2 to 3 hours in the water and the swim was utterly relaxing and inviting.

Wooden Fishing Boat Moored On Beach

This beach was well connected with the road, people started coming to see the sunset. So, we thought of going to the next beach for sunset which is Cansaulim.

We made two or three false starts before, then the beach located in the elusive narrow path through the thorny bushes. We were there just before the magic moments, I mean sunset. The glow and the glamour of the beach were at their peak when the sun was setting in peaceful isolation, So I call Cansaulim a “Sunset Beach”.

Sunset At Cansaulim Beach

The sun was down, the afterglow of sunset lingering on the horizon. And finally, as dusk fell, we returned to our room.
