I know that,! For most of you Title of this story might sound a little negative but believe me our intuitions could be deceiving sometimes. It induced me in deep thinking & eternal thoughts.
Let me explain -
In 2019, Very commonly! Like everybody else we planned a trip to Ladakh in the early months of the year & due to some No’s we couldn’t pursue the plan. However, The plan was until the last stage of execution & we dropped. But, Couple of us had already applied for leaves & were approved. Despite the fact that we are not going to Ladakh. So to appease, We decided to go to some other place. A break basically from all this Hustle & Bustle.
We decided to go on a Kerala trip (5 days long) to explore most of the places. Munnar, Alleppey , Kochi & kumarakom. We began our route plans & later kumarakom was dropped. Kumarakom is a lagoon which is kind of similar to Alleppey water banks. So , rather than rushing towards place to place we decided to spend time on the places we go as much as we can to feel satisfied about our visit. I generally had the notion about Alleppey that its a place of beaches, water banks & houseboat was something similar to Cruise in Goa ( I imagined ). But, that wasn’t true. Alleppey was different. The Nature of the place was very unique & different in a good way. We booked house boat a day before reaching Alleppey so it was sorted.
Due to unusual traffic & there was a festival in the upcoming week we were late by an hour to our destination. Directly went to the boathouse & hopped in. As it was around 1PM , I was pretty surprised looking at the things organized in the houseboat during the intro session. We met the owner of the house boat & he introduced us to the crew members who were extremely kind. The houseboat generally comes in 2 categories ( Private & General Sharing ). We chose the private one as I was Amateur to understand this.
Our sea going has begun & it invoked a dopamine release too. It was lunch time & food was ready on the seating area in the dining space. I must say the food was utterly delicious. A native food of Kerala which is known for its authenticity was ready to eat. We enjoyed the delicacy of food & back to the balcony on the first floor where we began. We saw the few other house boats passing by. I mean the general sharing one which has a capacity of accommodating 12+ members. It didn’t look like they’re jammed. Everybody had their own private space & they all were dancing to the loud music. I for a second felt I could have been on the general sharing house boat as it was too much fun to be. But for the people who like to limit & maintain social distancing, a general sharing boat wasn’t a right room.
Honestly, Nobody looked like they needed a post lunch nap. We were fully charged to see the waterscapes which are a whole new sight. Time flew crazily in capturing views, playing Music & in group talks. It was dusky & we reached a small village where all the boats halted on a sea shore side. We jumped out & were strolling all around the place. It was interesting to see how the locals unite with the crews of the houseboat in facilitating the needs.
“Hot Pakoras” & “Chai” were prepared in the evening. In my opinion, It’s the ultimate evening snack for every Desi’s. “ Red Sky, A pleasant nature, lotus bloomed & the smell of water with a crispy pakoras & hot chai” was a perfect definition of bliss. It started to fade away in the darkness & we hit our bed with these relaxing scenes, exhaling our breath & falling sleep unconsciously.
Next day morning , It was a return to our starting point. The numbness in our eyes & the last few precious hours on the boat left us sailed. The voyage by water is an answer within yourself. It was a treat of awesomeness & fulfilment.
